Yahoo! Motherboard Summit Recap

Last week, I had the wonderful opportunity to be a part of the  Yahoo! Motherboard Summit.  If you are scratching your head wondering what the Motherboard is, Yahoo! created this group as a way to get mom bloggers together to explore hot topics, share ideas and create online and offline community as well as to get feedback on Yahoo! products and services.

I was excited to attend the summit not only to learn more about blogging and Yahoo! but to meet fellow Motherboard members.  Many of the attendees were former Silicon Valley Mom Bloggers (which sadly is no longer an active blog community) that I knew virtually but had not met in real life (or as they say in the blogging world IRL).

Billed as "the mother of all conferences," the summit kicked off with poolside cocktails at the Four Seasons Palo Alto on Thursday evening  (where we were able to mix and mingle over mojitos)!

Look how beautifully they decorated the place!

The summit continued with an informative day of learning at the Yahoo! Sunnyvale campus on Friday.  The sessions were terrific.  We heard from project managers and editors from Flickr, Yahoo! Shine, Yahoo! Green, Yahoo! For Good,  and had discussions regarding online safety and how to write better posts with the folks from Yahoo! Editorial (300 words or less are key).

All and all,  Yahoo! did an amazing job (shout out to Jeanne, Amy, and Stacy) putting together an event filled with valuable information, great food, and fun.

I left the event with a wealth of information that will help me to become a better writer and blogger.  And more importantly I gained inspiration from my fellow bloggers--(it is truly amazing what these women are doing) and new IRL friends.
